The Original Prusa XL is a unique large-format CoreXY 3D printer with a build volume of 36×36×36 cm (14.17''×14.17''×14.17'') and an optional tool changer, allowing you to operate up to 5 independent tool heads. With this, you can print large objects quickly and with little to no waste .
The XL offers a true multi-material experience, giving you the ability to combine materials like soft TPU with durable PCCF in a single print process. Or, for less demanding projects, you can use PLA as a support material for PETG objects, making support removal much easier. The XL can be upgraded with additional tool heads at any time.
With five tool heads, the XL delivers unmatched multi-material performance and speed with ultra-fast tool changes and advanced technology to produce high-quality and colorful 3D prints with minimal to no waste.
The printer includes a satin-finished print bed and a 1kg spool of Prusament PLA.
Waste-Free Printing

Every single-extruder printer on the market must purge filament from the nozzle at each color/material change. For many printers on the market, filament waste can be up to four times the weight of the printed object itself.
The XL is designed for efficient multi-material printing with little to no waste and ultra-fast operation. Normally, a small priming tower is used to stabilize nozzle pressure, but with properly dried filaments and wipe-to-infill options, the XL can print without any waste! No cleaning towers, no flushed filament in the printer!
Combining Materials
With the individual tool heads, you can easily load different materials and combine them effortlessly during a single print. You can combine flexible materials with PETG and use PLA as support for easy support removal. If your project requires advanced and expensive materials like PCCF, you can use a more affordable material for support and reduce overall costs.

XL Tool Changer
The tool changer is the cornerstone of the Original Prusa XL. Load up to five materials and print objects from multiple materials faster than ever before. Since the filaments are loaded in the nozzle, there are no lengthy filament change procedures. The tool changer switches individual heads in an instant and, thanks to its optimized mechanical design, offers unparalleled reliability. You can load up to five 2kg spools in the XL and print a 10kg object without touching the printer.
Continue Printing with Spool Join
Spool Join is a feature that automatically switches to another spool when the current one runs out during a print. This feature is perfect for finishing partially used spools, but you can also start huge uninterrupted prints: load up to five 2kg spools, activate Spool Join, and let the printer produce a massive 10kg model without any user intervention.

With the Nextruder with direct drive, printing with flexible materials is easier than ever, allowing you to create amazing flexible projects without breaking a sweat (or your printer). For most materials, an enclosed print chamber is not required, but for those that do, there is a dedicated Original Prusa XL Enclosure.
Wi-Fi and Prusa Connect
The Original Prusa XL offers both wired and wireless connectivity options, allowing you to control your printer from anywhere via our secure and encrypted Prusa Connect system. Simply drag a G-code file into your browser window and start the print just seconds after the upload begins. Prusa Connect offers a range of features, enabling you to schedule prints or monitor them remotely via a webcam.
Color Touch LCD Screen
Choose your preferred control method for the XL! You can use either the physical rotary knob for tactile feedback or the popular touchscreen panel. The color LCD offers easily navigable menus and simple instructions. Unique Segmented Heated Bed
The XL features a modular, segmented heated bed controlled by a separate electronics board to further improve print quality and reliability. The heated bed consists of 16 individually controlled tiles designed to prevent heat warping, which is common in printers with a single large heated bed. With our proven double-sided print sheets with various surface textures, you will always find the perfect print surface for your material. Additionally, the printer turns off unused tiles to save energy.
Resume After Power Failure
Large prints can easily take many hours to complete. However, you don’t need to worry about power outages. The XL features hardware-based power loss recovery. In the event of a power failure, the XL saves the last known position of the extruder, allowing it to resume right where it left off once power is restored – even for network prints!
Actively Updated
We release new updates for our printers even years after their release. These updates bring new, often significant features that change the way you print. The MK3S+ received firmware updates for over six years. The Original Prusa MINI received a major input shaper update four years after its release that doubled its print speed.
Designed for Offline Use
The XL was designed for native offline use. If you do not want to use network services, you don’t have to. The printer can be configured without any internet access, and there are no downsides or limitations.
